Introduction
Being a digital nomad lets you explore the world (and keep affording to do so). Whether you were born in the Philippines or not, Siargao is definitely a place you shouldn’t miss out on.
Naked Island, Siargao Philippines
Why Siargao?
Located in Surigao del Norte, Siargao is the Surfing Capital of the Philippines. Its gnarly waves beckons beginner and pro surfers from around the world. Siargao greets visitors with welcoming waves and the warm smiles of its locals. Life moves at a more forgiving pace, but it is still able to offer a cosmopolitan experience with the culmination of people from different cultures and backgrounds, and the new businesses and ideas they bring with them. What better place to work from than somewhere you can take a surf break at in between work. It is so easy for people to feel at home in Siargao. It is no surprise that many digital nomads choose to stay long term.

Our Favorite Island
Siargao is our favorite island, and we keep going back because we just can’t get enough! It means so much to us and we’ll never forget all the things we have done there and all the people we’ve met. From celebrating our first anniversary in Siargao, living here for almost 9 months during the pandemic, to being the site where we got engaged, and even where we came before little baby Tokyo was born. We are sure that Siargao will continue to be a big part of our lives, and hopefully Tokyo’s as well.
Watch this and be inspired
Siargao has so much to offer, but it isn’t just a place conducive for play, but a place that inspires work as well. Something in the sea breeze just energizes you, let the waves push you to reach your deadlines and later push you on your board when you finish working. Siargao is constantly developing, and every day it becomes more and more digital nomad friendly.
Watch this, it’s totally worth it!
Important criteria to consider for a Coworking Space (ambiance, internet connection, and amenities)
The important criteria that we took into consideration when choosing a productive workspace are: ambiance, internet, and amenities.
Does the place have the right atmosphere?
Is the space comfortable but still functional?
Will the internet be strong enough to support my work and/or online meetings?
If I get hungry, are there yummy snacks for me to munch on?
Can I get my daily dose of caffeine here?
These criteria are important in a coworking space no matter where you are.
As digital nomads ourselves, we highly value these things wherever we travel. Having fun while traveling is always the goal, but it is important never to forget being responsible as well. So, without further ado, here are our top 5 picks of coworking spaces in Siargao. Moving from one place to another isn’t always easy.

Pick any of these spots to get busy and spend a productive day in paradise (and even if you aren’t able to be too productive that day, at least you’re still in Siargao)! Before we go, here are a few tips and other things to consider for digital nomads coming to Siargao.
Quick Tips
Internet Connection
Being a digital nomad equals being totally dependent on the internet. Siargao has had troubles with internet connection and cellular service in the past, but they have constantly been trying to improve on this. Projects like Starlink Wi-Fi from Elon Musk and Philippine Domestic Submarine Cable Network’s (PDSCN) fiber connection have continuously been striving to provide stronger connections through a wider range of the island. Even with these efforts, it is still important to remember that some places may still have stronger internet and phone signals compared to other spots.
The strength of your internet connection will greatly vary depending on weather conditions and where you are currently staying. For the steadiest signal, you might want to stay in General Luna, more specifically in Catangnan. This is where most of the satellites are located.
Although the Wi-Fi issue is being worked on in Siargao, you might want to consider packing a sim card that has internet or LTE coverage. You could also bring a portable Wi-Fi modem for a “break glass in case of emergency” situation.
Power Outages
Speaking of fickle weather and internet signals, it is also possible to experience power outages when in Siargao. These can happen at any time and last a couple of minutes to a few hours. Don’t forget to pack your powerbank!
Be Prepared
Other things you might want to consider bringing:
extension cords - for all the different plugs and charging devices you need.
earphones/headphones - for good tunes and maximum focus.
